Jungle Pam Hardy: All you kneed to know about the iconic drag racing beauty

Jungle Pam Hardy became an unforgettable icon in the 1970s drag racing scene, known for her striking beauty and magnetic presence alongside legendary racer Jungle Jim Liberman. Though her time in the sport was brief, Pam’s charisma made her a key figure, attracting attention as she backed up Jim’s car during races in her signature look of shorts and tank tops. She quickly became the most famous woman in drag racing, even gracing the cover of Hot Rod magazine.

Pam met Jim in 1972 while hitchhiking, and their partnership became legendary. While Jim’s flamboyant showmanship made him a star, Pam’s involvement was integral to his success—she staged the car, checked for leaks, and handled other key tasks. Their dynamic duo was a hit on the racing circuit, but tragedy struck when Jim died in a crash in 1977. Pam stepped away from racing, vowing never to work with another driver.

Though she moved on romantically, marrying twice, she remained dedicated to preserving Jim’s memory. Today, at 67, Pam lives a quieter life but still holds a beloved place in the hearts of racing fans for her impact on the sport and her enduring charm. Despite not racing herself, Pam’s contribution to drag racing is iconic, proving that women can earn respect in a male-dominated world.
