Donald Trump wants to reopen Alcatraz and reveals who will be sent there

Alcatraz, the notorious prison shut down in 1963, may be reopened if Donald Trump gets his way. In a Truth Social post, Trump announced plans to rebuild and expand Alcatraz to house the “most ruthless and violent offenders” in the U.S., calling it part of his broader effort to restore law and order.

The former president criticized the justice system and said America has become too lenient, blaming “radicalized judges” for slowing deportations. He ordered the Bureau of Prisons, DOJ, FBI, and Homeland Security to take action, despite the island now being a national park.

Critics, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi, dismissed the proposal as unrealistic and symbolic. The Bureau of Prisons said it would follow presidential orders but gave no details. Whether prisoners return to Alcatraz remains unclear — but Trump’s message is firm: tough times need tough measures.
