Police Confirm Foiled Bomb Plot At Lady Gaga Concert Attended By Two Million

Over two million people attended Lady Gaga’s free concert in Rio de Janeiro on May 3, making it her biggest show ever. The event, held at Copacabana Beach, was part of her Mayhem world tour and attracted 2.1 million fans.

After the concert, Rio de Janeiro’s Civil Police announced they had successfully foiled a planned bomb attack targeting the event. Working with Brazil’s Ministry of Justice, authorities arrested the main suspect and detained a teenager involved in the plot. The suspects were allegedly recruiting others, including minors, to carry out attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails.

The operation was launched after police intelligence discovered coded language and extremist content online, leading to 12 search warrants across various Brazilian states. One suspect was arrested with a firearm, and another was found with illegal content on a device.

This was Lady Gaga’s first performance in Brazil since 2012, following a canceled 2017 show due to health issues.
