Little House on the Prairie might seem perfect, but behind the scenes, there were plenty of bloopers and mistakes that made it past the editing room. From Laura’s “mystic pregnancy” that lasted for seasons to unexpected cameos and historical inaccuracies, the show wasn’t without its funny slip-ups. Here are some of the most notable:

  1. Laura’s Long Pregnancy: Laura announced her pregnancy in season seven, but when the next summer came around, she was still expecting, creating a confusing timeline.
  2. Nellie’s Wig: Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie, wore a wig to achieve her iconic blonde curls, as her natural hair didn’t cooperate with the style.
  3. Colonel Sanders Cameo: In a bizarre twist, Colonel Sanders, who founded KFC in 1952, appeared in a season eight episode set in the 1870s.
  4. Missing Winter Coats: In freezing weather, characters walked around without coats, likely due to filming in the summer in Arizona.
  5. Fashion Slip: Caroline’s bra appeared on screen, even though bras weren’t invented until 1912. And the men were unusually clean-shaven for the 1880s.
  6. Dummy Scene: In an episode where Albert is thrown off a moving train, a dummy is clearly used in place of a real person.

Despite these mistakes, Little House on the Prairie remains a beloved classic, and these bloopers only add to its charm.
