Toddler found unresponsive after consuming popular drink

Toddler Unconscious After Drinking Slushy – Mother Issues Warning

Four-year-old Marnie Moore from Lancashire collapsed after sipping a popular slushy drink at a birthday party. Her mother, Kim Moore, said Marnie became very sleepy and then completely unresponsive within minutes. She was rushed to the hospital and remained unconscious for 25 minutes while doctors treated her for low blood sugar.

Doctors later suspected glycerol toxicity — a chemical used in slushies to maintain texture. Marnie’s condition improved after a three-day hospital stay.

Her case isn’t isolated. At least 21 other children have experienced similar symptoms after consuming slushies with glycerol. Health experts now warn parents not to give these drinks to children under 8.

Kim Moore advises, “I wouldn’t let my child drink one again. It’s not worth the risk.”
