Close friend reveals reason Gene Hackman couldn’t ‘call for help’

Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, last month, leaving the entertainment world in shock. Initially suspected of carbon monoxide poisoning or foul play, it was later confirmed that both died of natural causes.

Betsy died from the rare Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, while Hackman, suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s, was unable to seek help after her death. A close friend revealed that Hackman didn’t own a phone and was uninterested in technology, making it impossible for him to call for assistance. Hackman’s condition and the loss of his primary caregiver, Betsy, contributed to his own death. Additionally, one of their dogs, Zinna, was also found dead.
