Donald Trump, although barred by the 22nd Amendment from serving a third term as president, has hinted that there may be ways around the constitutional limit. In a March 30 interview with NBC News, he suggested that while it’s early in his second term, many people want him to run again.
Trump mentioned that there are “methods” to make it happen, including the possibility of Vice President JD Vance running first and passing the role to him, although he didn’t elaborate further.
Trump’s comments have sparked criticism from both parties. Changing the constitution to allow a third term would be extremely difficult, requiring a two-thirds majority in Congress or approval from two-thirds of U.S. states.
Despite this, Trump ally Steve Bannon believes Trump will run again in 2028, raising questions about whether term limits might change in the future. Should the two-term rule remain, or is it time for a change?
