Dick Van Dyke, 99, makes rare comment about 46-year-old age gap with wife Arlene

Dick Van Dyke, 99, recently opened up about his marriage to Arlene Silver, who is 46 years younger than him, sharing the secret to their 13-year relationship. The couple met in 2006 at the SAG Awards when Arlene was a makeup artist in her 30s, and they married in 2012. Despite public skepticism due to their age gap, they’ve built a strong and joyful relationship based on mutual support, shared interests, and love for dancing and singing together.

Van Dyke admitted he was initially worried people would accuse Silver of being a “gold digger,” but says no one ever did. Arlene describes their connection as “eerie” in how well it works, adding, “People the same age don’t last.” They both emphasized how much they care about each other and how being together brings them happiness and purpose.

Now approaching his 100th birthday, Van Dyke credits staying active and dancing daily with his youthful energy. Their love story, built on laughter, creativity, and companionship, proves that age is no barrier to a lasting relationship.
