J.K. Rowling commits her wealth to dismantling trans rights

J.K. Rowling has been vocal about her feelings toward transgender people. In recent years, she has become one of the most vocal voices in the United Kingdom against trans rights.

The famous fantasy writer holds firm in her belief that trans women should not be equated with those born biologically female. And those policies or laws that allow for this to happen are detrimental to women’s rights.

Rowling also does not spare anyone she deems to be a trans woman. She targeted Olympic boxer Imane Khelif, believing her to be a trans woman. She called Khelif male on several occasions. As a result, when Khelif won at the Olympics, she filed a lawsuit for cyber harassment, with Rowling being one of the defendants named in the suit.

The original cast for the Harry Potter series, which includes actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have all made clear that they oppose Rowling’s views on trans people.

The writer has now announced plans to create a private foundation through which she says “offers legal funding support to individuals and organisations fighting to retain women’s sex-based rights in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.” She has plans to direct the funds she makes through royalties and beyond to her cause.

When a decision that helped curb rights for trans people in the United Kingdom had been reached, Rowling posted an image of herself with a celebratory drink and cigar in her hand, with a caption that read, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

She has also set up a fund for women to get legal funding when fighting for their sex-based rights in the workplace.

The writer also funds various organizations, including ‘For Women Scotland’, an organization which is also very vocal about their belief about trans women and those born biologically male.

All in all, it seems that J.K. Rowling is not going to back down from her belief set and is insistent on funding her beliefs.
