Sally Field responds to critics who called her “ugly”

Sally Field has defied Hollywood’s expectations, both in her career and in how she approaches aging. Known for iconic roles in Forrest GumpMrs. Doubtfire, and Steel Magnolias, she’s also been a vocal advocate against ageism and bullying.

Field’s journey hasn’t been easy—she revealed in her 2018 memoir that she endured sexual abuse from her stepfather. She rose to fame in the ’60s with Gidget and later won an Academy Award for Norma Rae. Over time, she became known for portraying strong maternal figures in films like Soapdish and Not Without My Daughter.

Now 78, Field embraces aging naturally, despite criticism from internet trolls. She’s spoken openly about resisting plastic surgery, accepting the changes in her appearance, and facing osteoporosis, a diagnosis she received before turning 60. Despite leading a healthy lifestyle, the disease progressed silently, as she shared with WebMD.

Though she’s been targeted online for her looks, Field remains an inspiration, proving that beauty comes from confidence and authenticity.
