2/Texas DA Reveals Whether Teen Charged in Fatal Stabbing of 17-Year-Old Star Athlete Austin Metcalf Will Face Death Penalty

 

The altercation reportedly began when Karmelo took shelter under another school’s tent during a rainstorm. When asked to move, he argued with Austin, who later grabbed him. Karmelo then pulled a knife from his bag and stabbed Austin in the chest. Despite quick action by emergency responders, Austin died at the scene.

Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, described his son as a high-achieving student and athlete with a bright future. His twin brother, Hunter, witnessed the stabbing and tried to save him. The family, though heartbroken, has received widespread support, with a GoFundMe raising over $324,000.The Frisco community continues to grieve as the investigation unfolds.

A bond hearing for Karmelo is scheduled, and the court will soon decide if the trial will remain in Collin County. The district attorney emphasized the importance of allowing local citizens to determine the outcome of the case.
