The sisters were born on December 29, 2016, in Texas, sharing a liver, diaphragm, and part of their heart. Their complex condition required months of preparation before a team of nearly 75 specialists at Texas Children’s Hospital performed a seven-hour separation procedure on January 13, 2018.
Before the operation, the girls spent more than a year in the hospital, where doctors prepared them for the complex surgery. Their separation was successful, and after spending the first year and a half of their lives in hospital, they were eventually able to return home.
